Faith, Family, and the Culture We’re Creating at Home

In this episode of The Half Hippie Honey Podcast, I share how homeschooling has become a way for us to intentionally shape our family culture. While faith is an important part of that story, it wasn’t where we started. It’s something that has deepened as we’ve grown together. I talk about the balance between the privilege of protecting our kids from outside influences and the real sacrifices our family makes to live this way. If you’ve ever wondered how homeschooling can be about more than just academics, this episode will give you a glimpse into how we’re weaving faith, family, and values into everyday life at home.

Slumberkins

Slumberkins creates intentional children’s books and cuddly creatures designed to help kids build emotional well-being and resilience. Each story teaches valuable lessons – like coping skills, self-confidence, and mindfulness – in a way little ones can truly connect with. They also have a record of Slumberkin-themed songs AND a tv show on Apple TV.

Our boys have been obsessed for quite some time and frankly, we are too! Check out a few pics of our Slumberkins – they like to have parties and go on car rides. We’ve even got the Slumberkins affirmation posters in our homeschool space!

Another social-emotional tool that we love is the Lakeshore Social-Emotional Photo Library!

In the episode, I also mentioned the 1000 Hours Outside podcast. You can check out their website for fun outside hours trackers. She also has a new book out about homeschooling.

Something I didn’t mention in this episode was BSF – Bible Study Fellowship. This is a bible study for the whole family and it’s been such a blessing for us. My boys loved participating in this program for 2 years and it sparked so many meaningful conversations about God and faith. If you are a stay-at-home mom, or have a flexible schedule, you might look into BSF in your area. (Oh and they DO have evening classes, too!)

Finally, if you enjoyed this episode, I’d love for you to share it with a friend or mama who might be walking a similar path. You can also leave a review or message me; your words mean the world and help others find this space.

Thank you for being here. I’m so grateful to walk this journey with you.
